We are the pioneers of this variety in Matakana which has caused a resurgence of Flora in the north. DNA testing in California revealed that the vines we originally planted as a special clone of “Pinot Gris” are in fact an exceptionally rare variety called “Flora”, related to Gewurztraminer and ‘long lost’ in this country. The “mother” vines turned out to be “rogue” vines, creating “The Rogue” Flora which is very similar to Pinot Gris, except that we think it better! Off-dry, soft, & medium bodied with aromas & flavours of pear drops, lychee and cinnamon.
